Artist takes self-portraits after using various drugs

PostSun May 12, 2013 9:57 pm

With very interesting results. I especially liked his self-portrait after he used DMT. The self-portraits he took while on Crystal Meth, Morphine, and Nicotine gum were just disturbing.

Entertaining... though I can't help but wonder if he knows that Cephalexin is an antibiotic- :ugeek:

Yes, and that still makes it a drug:

What is cephalexin?

Cephalexin is in a group of drugs called cephalosporin antibiotics and is used to fight bacteria in the body. It works by interfering with the bacteria's cell wall formation, causing it to rupture, and killing the bacteria

http://www.drugs.com/cephalexin.html

The term "drugs" is an umbrella term for many chemicals (man-made or natural) that effect the body. Pain-killers, anti-biotics, anti-psychotics, anti-depressants, stimulants, depressants, etc, are all considered drugs.

Man, you two can find anything to disagree over

This is a fascinating experiment though, I thought it was fascinating when it was posted on VC. Really admire the guy for risking his health for art and understanding, though a bit worried about the kind of irrepairable damage this project is doing to his brain.

"We all are to some extent [agnostic]... So yes, I'm an 'agnostic', in as much as I don't actually know what happens when I die. I choose to operate under the assumption that God does not exist. I have no need for God in my life, the concept of a 'God' feels incredibly made up to me. It is not requisite for my every day living. For some people it is. They are 'theistic agnostics,' I am an 'atheistic agnostic.'" - Cara Santa Maria

Yeah...this is a pretty cool experiment. It could easily be passed off as a creative excuse to use drugs though (instead of using drugs for a creative use). He said he suffered mild brain damage from using a different drug every day which isnt cool. Id say in that respect, it probably wasnt really worth it. Im not really an advocate for using drugs, but Im not really against it either. I think when somebody uses them for creative purposes, thats at least the best way to use them.

That's quite interesting, the morphine portrait visually displays pretty much how I feel as well.

Blocked and locked and squared and cramped, stagnated energy and flow unable to move.
What I share are simply my personal views, I consider them subjective and never absolute.

He sure did leave out some of the better, more interesting drugs. The overhead DMT breakdown is great.
