Halfway through this little gem. High school in hell? Reads like Judy Blume, if she were writing for Dante.

Yeah. Readers have said it's much darker than his past books have been. But it's also kind of gross. Not that bad gross. I mean, there's the lake of wasted sperm (a term I'll refer to probably for the rest of my life now) the sea of insects, dog pile mountain - it's adult, and it's not. Some things are lighthearted, but others are more towards the adult nature. It has been kind of dumbed down for teen readers though.

Instead of wading through this swamp of text, just think of it as a really twisted Judy Blume book written for teens that adults will also understand.

Who killed Boy Staunton?
Around this central mystery is woven a glittering, fantastical, cunningly contrived trilogy of novels. Luring the reader down labyrinthine tunnels of myth, history, and magic, The Deptford Trilogy provides an exhilarating antidote to a world from where "the fear and dread and splendour of wonder have been banished."
It's a bullshit three ring circus sideshow of freaks
