the minority seek truth with even fewer ever gettin' there..
fiends on the screens convene to keep the message clear,
three companies own the news -- what you expect to hear?
Take it at face value, that's what they count on
but I count the change that makes sense..
And change just for the sake of change ain't really about what I'm on
It's about progression and lessons to keep the mind strong..
the world's about a dollar, but I'm not..
cuz what happens when they make the currency fall apart?
It's currently all an art, the puppeteer's got nothing here
but the complacent, populate the matrix stuck in fear..
Or stuck in the latest somethin' hot or what to wear,
shoes with matching gear..
but I laugh, cuz you got it backwards
Talkin' bout your swag and not realizing who controls that which.. molds you
and don't call me "old school".. I'm just embarrassed
Cuz you're in the present with no gift for the future but sadness..

I LOVE THIS! Awesome.. Good Job JC!

Thanks Onyx ;)

I'll try to contribute here every now and again..

This one was spur of the moment.. I just watched the vid about that kid w/ terminal cancer who made the Clouds song (after learning he had died just yesterday).. then was reflecting on some personal things.. and 5 minutes later I was left with this (I kind of had that song vaguely in my head as I wrote.. I have no idea if it matches up as far as pace/timing but that's really not important)

Always the less, never the more
nevertheless, settle the score
measure up all, your blessed tears
for four score, and seven years..
a lifetime, in the right mind
years in life, or life in years
the last days of this nighttime,
for wicked hopes, or righteous fears..
look inside, or at the sky
past the stars to what's infinite
don't let time pass you by,
cuz righteous hope is heaven sent..

Ah... I love short poems. Did you know that they are a LOT harder to write than a longer one? Most who can master the haiku are the best writers. Although, yours is longer than a haiku, it is still very difficult to get the premise, filling and conclusion with just a few words. You have a natural gift. It's beautiful. I can't write poems that short that have that big of an impact. Kudos to you sir.

Thank you. Onyx.. I think it's important that we all share what we can as we make our way thru this human experience.. I've been touched by the words, music, art, story, etc. of others many times (as I mentioned, particularly tonight), so I try and share what I have here and there.. in hopes that I affect someone in a similarly positive manner to how I've been affected..

"Pay it forward" and all that good stuff

Another one from tonight..

inspiration and respiration...
life is desperate, chasin' breathless, waitin'...
inhale impatience,
and exhale.. the pursuit of elation..
it's such a beautiful maze that lost souls find amazin'...
but lost roads are placed in spots where thoughts go to ease the pain,
and I hate the potholes, obstacles, and ceaseless rain..
but still I take breath.. while breath takes me
It's not so, philosophical.... it's more, breath-tak-ing..
there should be sirens going off.. but it's more like,
there's this Siren showing off.. and it's best they sing.

I think poetry is wack. I can sell crack and be more recognised than a poet. I'll spit bars over drums and guitars: be saying "trick and a hoe" on a track, make stacks and you know it. Drive nice cars with a dime in the back; a nickel in my lap and a 20 on the sack.... ;P Okay, let me stop playing... what I really want to say is: knowledge is the key to success, and life is the door. The poet is blessed - his knowledge, must bestow it on the rest, whether they adore it or abhor it.

You Are More Than You Know :By Onyx

What day did you wake up and looked into the reflection of the waters and see whiskers, fur, paws and claws?
What day did you wake up and call yourself "just a cat" and pick and prod at yourself and all your flaws?
What day did you decide that you were nothing more than great?
Was it what your mother taught you? Was it from people who hate?
No.. not haters we have no haters but traitors
and baiters.
People who can't wait to
Take your.....
Intuition.
Your inhibitions have you slippin'
Trippin...
Over the disgust of ancient lies.
Livin'
In a life designed.
It's designed to hold you hostage.
To beat you and keep you in bondage.
It's sad how you are so fond of the straps that hold you captive....
and yet you can't even see the prison walls that you are trapped in.
Rappin'
about how much you have.
Not realizing that it never lasts.
A blast...
throughout the air.
DO you not care for your own hair?
That you were born with?
That you shape, form and twist?
To please those who hold you in jail?
What the hell?
.
.
.
Really?
Do you remember when our own sabbath was stolen?
Yea, the one you are supposed to remember and keep holy?
Oh but no life is all about fast cars and bitches..
Shooting, acting a fool, gettin money and prisons.
Simply...
The complete opposite of what we were created for...
and when people try to speak the truth, you shun them and ignore.
You want to call me crazy? Go ahead because I'm glad.
What? Are you mad because I've come to truth that you only wish you had?
Rad..
"I mean tubular... duuuude
you must be stupid!"
Why? Because I awoke?
From a slumber laid to choke?
At 27 I had a stroke but thank THE LORD THAT I CAN WALK!
Do you think I give a flying thought about the rats that talk?
Pleeease...
Tell me something new.
Or keep believing what's taught at school.
Your own church don't tell the truth
yet you follow without proof.
I'll give you proof and you'll still shun.
I'll shine the mirror in the sun.
That makes you close your eyes......
And when opened, you'll realize.
That they LIED, you're not a cat.
You are a LION... how about that?
Yet you love to keep the lies.
To live inconsequential lives.
But I SCREAM with heat and passion
and it never fails how hard you'll smash them.
If you want to know what I speak then search for
LION, JUDAH, WHO?
Maybe someone else saying it, will bring you to the truth.

I was dead
I came alive
I was tears
I became laughter

All because of love
when it arrived
my temporal life
from then on
changed to eternal

Love said to me
you are not
crazy enough
you don't
fit this house

I went and
became crazy
crazy enough
to be in chains

Love said
you are not
intoxicated enough
you don't
fit the group

I went and
got drunk
drunk enough
to overflow
with light-headedness

Love said
you are still
too clever
filled with
imagination and skepticism

I went and
became gullible
and in fright
pulled away
from it all

Love said
you are a candle
attracting everyone
gathering every one
around you

I am no more
a candle spreading light
I gather no more crowds
and like smoke
I am all scattered now

Love said
you are a teacher
you are a head
and for everyone
you are a leader

I am no more
not a teacher
not a leader
just a servant
to your wishes

Love said
you already have
your own wings
I will not give you
more feathers

And then my heart
pulled itself apart
and filled to the brim
with a new light
overflowed with fresh life

Now even the heavens
are thankful that
because of love
I have become
the giver of light.
